New York, USA— According to the decision of the Temporary Supreme Church Government (TSCG) of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA), on 18 May 2008 at Holy Trinity Church in New York, Fr. Georgiy (Kravchenko) was ordained bishop of Bolhrad and vicar of the Odesa Eparchy of the ROCA. He is to help Bishop Ahafanhel (Pashkovskyi) provide pastoral care for parishes in Ukraine and Moldova.
The session of the TSCG of 13-15 May 2008 also confirmed non-acceptance of the “Act of Canonical Unity” with the Moscow Patriarchate, which had been accepted by the majority of the ROCA.
The TSCG was established on 11 July 2007 after part of the parishes and Bishop Ahafanhel (Pashkovskyi) of the ROCA refused to accept the “Act of Canonical Unity” with the Moscow Patriarchate on 17 May 2007.
