Another Historic Church Burns Down in Lviv Region of Ukraine
KYIV — (risu.org.ua) - On February 15, 2010, Interfax reported about a wooden Greek Catholic Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord built in 1792 that burnt down last Saturday in the village of Zvir, in the Lviv Region. RISU’s Ukrainian-language web site posted this story on February 13.
No victims or injured were reported. The fire emerged in the morning, and fire fighters managed to extinguish it in two hours, spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry Igor Krol told the journalists.
The church is obliterated, but the bell tower survived the fire.
The church was an architectural monument of local importance.
